Genshin Impact players will have lots to look forward to at its next update.
Chinese game developer HoYoverse recently released a preview of the events and character banners players should expect in Genshin Impact's 4.1 update, including the rewards it would give for the game's third anniversary.
Genshin Impact's 4.1 update is set for release on Sept.27.
Genshin Impact 4.1 Events
Genshin Impact's 4.1 update comes with three events for players to participate in. These events include this year's Lantern Rite Festival, named "Waterborne Poetry," a jellyfish retrieval challenge called "Radiant Harvest," and Klee's fish blasting challenge event, "Dodoco's Bomb-tastic Adventure."
This year's Lantern Rite Festival has Hu Tao and Venti joining hands to host a poetry festival, wherein players can expect activities that complement its theme. As such, players can expect activities such as a special dart-throwing game called Hundred-Pace Hurling Rites and Mending Painting Prospects to piece together paintings based on Teyvat scenery.
As per tradition, participation in the Lantern Rite Festival rewards players with primogems and a Crown of Insight. It will also allow players to acquire a 4-star catalyst called the Ballad of the Boundless Blue - the event-exclusive weapon previously revealed in the update's leaks.
For those unaware, the Ballad of the Boundless Blue is a catalyst that increases normal and charged attack damage by 16% and 12% for six seconds, respectively.
As for the jellyfish retrieval challenge, players can collect a certain amount of Violetglow Jellyfish in collection areas to complete challenges. Reaching a certain amount rewards players with primogems, weapon ascension materials, character and weapon level-up materials, and Mora.

Lastly, the fish blasting challenge has players complete fish-blasting challenges (as the event's name suggests) to acquire primogems, weapon ascension materials, character and weapon level-up materials, and Mora.
These events have their requirements that players must fulfill to participate in them. The Lantern Rite Festival is available to players who completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom," though completing Chapter 1: Act III "A New Star Approaches" is recommended to get the best experience from the event.
Participation in the jellyfish retrieval challenge requires players to be at adventure rank 20 or above, unlock any Statue of the Seven in Fontaine, and complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom." Klee's fish-blasting event, meanwhile, has the same requirements, though completing Klee's story quest is recommended to get the best experience.
4.1 Character Banners, 3rd Anniversary Rewards
As for the character banners in Genshin Impact's 4.1 update, Neuvilette, Fontaine's Chief Justice, and Hu Tao, the 77th-Generation Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, will be the five-star characters available on the update's launch. The character banners of both five-star characters will feature Fischl, Xingqiu, and Diona as their featured four-star characters.
Because of this lineup, Neuvilette and H Tao's signature weapons, the Tome of the Eternal Flow and the Staff of Homa, will be acquired on the game's weapon banner. Players can also acquire Fontaine-themed four-star weapons and Fischl's signature bow, the Mitternachts Waltz.
As for the rewards HoYoverse will give for Genshin Impact's third anniversary, players can expect to receive primogems, fragile resin, gadgets, and other rewards every time they log into the game. Players can collect these rewards in their in-game mail up until the end of the 4.1 update.
HoYoverse's announcement lines up with what its Studio Technical Director, Zhenzhong Yi's previously revealed. You may recall that he stated that Hoyoverse will give out the following rewards for the game's third anniversary:
- 10 Intertwined Fates (special daily login event rewards)
- 1,600 Primogems (in-game mailbox)
- 4 Fragile Resin
- 2 unique gadgets - the Portable Aerodynamic Gelatinous Bubble Generator and the Itty Bitty Octobaby
Players can collect these rewards in their in-game mail up until the end of the 4.1 update. HoYoverse will also reset each top-up level of the Genesis Crystals in the Crystal Top-up page, giving players double the amount of Genesis Crystals they would get at the first top-up.
