Apple Vision Pro Faces Weight Problem

When Apple introduced its first mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, many were impressed and intrigued with the new device. The design is made of custom aluminum alloy frame curves and a modular design customizable to each user.

The Vision Pro reportedly weighs around 453 grams to 680 grams. During Apple's internal testing, with the employees getting firsthand experience with headsets, some users reportedly complained about the headset being too heavy after long hours of use. Apple has never really released its official weight upon its announcement.

Other ordinary headsets usually use plastic to minimize the weight which is mostly around 250-300 grams. However, Apple took the risk and gambled with premium materials like aluminum and glass which proven to be on the heavy side.

Apple Chases Comfortability with Vision Pro

While the potential of the features of Vision Pro can be exciting, the burden of having to carry around half a kilo on your head while trying to enjoy these features can easily shoo away buyers. Hence, Apple is working on making the Vision Pro more comfortable to wear by trying to make it smaller and lighter design-wise.

The Vision Pro is slated to be released by 2024 and promises high-resolution cameras that allows users to see their real surrounding while doing tasks. It is also powered by an M2 chip which assures the customers a fast and sharp performance. Apple's mixed-reality headset starts at $3,500 and can be bundled with other accessories.
