New PS5 Comes in Smaller Size, More Storage, Disc Drive

According to PlayStation, the new model will address the evolving needs of gamers and put more focus on flexibility. While the new model is still equipped with the same technology features as the previous PS5 model, the new model comes in with over 30 percent less in volume. Moreover, it is also 18 percent and 24 percent less heavy compared to the previous models.

The smaller PS5 design has four separate cover panels that have a glossy finish for its top portion. Meanwhile, the bottom is still matte like usual. Players can have an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 Digital Edition. When it comes to internal storage there will be a 1TB SSD for it.

The PS5 is powered by AMD Ryzen Zen 2 and AMD Radeon RDNA2-based for the GPU. Likewise, it still has the 4K, 8K, and VR support for video and Tempest 3D AudioTech for the sounds.

New PS5 Model Coming This November

The new PS5 model will be available in the U.S. via select retailers and on PlayStation's website starting this November. Meanwhile, fans across the globe would have to wait in the following months.

The PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive will sell at $499.99 while the PS5 Digital Edition will be sold at $449.99. Players who bought the Digital Edition can still have the attachable disc drive for only $79.99. While a horizontal stand will be included in the package of the new  PS5 model, a vertical stand compatible with all the PS5 models will be sold separately at a price of $29.99.

Sony also reminded that once the current PS5 model stocks ran out, the new PS5 will be the only model available for purchase.
