Chrome Mobile Gets URL Correction Tool

Earlier this year, Google announced that Chrome will be able to detect URL typos and will automatically suggest websites based on the corrections. The feature was first rolled out on the desktop and after some months mobile users can now experience the update as well.

According to the company, the new feature will increase Chrome's accessibility for people with dyslexia, language learners, and anyone who makes typos. Moreover, the URL correction tool will prevent people from entering suspicious websites by accident.

Chrome on Android recently had an additional function for TalkBack users which made it easier to manage and organize tabs. The function allowed users to access a tab grid wherein they can do tab groups, bulk tab actions, and reordering.

Google Maps Add Ways to Support Disability Community

Google introduced a feature that will specify if the business that was searched is disabled-owned. Merchants will now have the option to self-identify as members of the community. Once they identify themselves, the attribute will appear on their listing in Maps and Search. The new attribute will be added to the existing list that includes Asian-owned, Black-owned, Latino-owned, LGBTQ+ owned, veteran-owned, and women-owned.

On the other hand, Google Maps updated its system to add more accessible walking routes and wheelchair-accessible transit navigation options. Just simply select the "wheelchair-accessible" transit preference and it will automatically suggest appropriate routes. The feature is also recommended for people who travel with luggage or strollers.

The company stated that it will continue to build products with and for the disability community. For instance, Google teamed up with Lavant Consulting to design and name the new Maps functions.
