PlayStation Console Users Can No Longer Share Through X

When PlayStation users have a cool screenshot from a video game or a big achievement to share, they have the option to do so by sharing it on X directly from the console. That will no longer be possible soon as the Sony console cuts off the social media platform.

No More Sharing on X

Through PS4 and PS4, you have the option to take screenshots and record clips of your games, which is a neat way to save scenes from a video game when you did something worth recording. They all go to the corresponding folders of the title you're playing.

When you view them through the Capture Gallery, you have the option to share the media through X, formerly Twitter, along with an included caption. If you use it often, then you might want to make the best of it now since PlayStation will be removing that function in a week.

In the message that pops up on consoles, it states that the integration with X will no longer function on both PS4 and PS5 consoles by November 13th. Furthermore, users cannot access X content through consoles as well.

Although neither Sony or X the integration is being removed, it's likely that it has something to do with X's API access, as reported by The Verge, given that the company has changed the API pricing when Elon Musk took over.

It might not be a big loss considering that not a lot of players utilize the feature. Some only use it as a way to quickly upload a photo and then save it later on. Some users on Reddit say that they didn't even know it was an option.

How to Upload PlayStation Game Captures

For PS5, users can enable their PS5 captures on the PlayStation app. With that done, the captures will be automatically uploaded. It's important to note that for this to work, the console has to stay connected to the internet with the setting enabled.

Then, the player can open the PlayStation app through eligible devices, select Library, go to Captures, and select Enable. The video and image captures will stay on the app for 14 days before they are deleted.

With this feature, players will be able to upload gameplay videos that are under three minutes, although they don't have the option to record it in 4K. In the same Library, they can access screenshots taken from the Create Menu or Create button shortcuts.

There's also the option of manually uploading media by heading to the Media Gallery. Highlight the content you want to upload and then press the Options button. When the PlayStation app is active, users can select Upload to PlayStation App.

For PS4, users can head to the Capture Gallery and select the media they want to upload. For a video clip, press the Share button after selecting the clip, and then use Trim to edit the start and end points of the video. After that, players can click on Share.

Screenshots are located in the same gallery, although to upload images, the users have to hold the share button after selecting an image, and then choose an upload destination. After that, select Activities to upload the media through the PS Network, and then Share.
