iPhone Fixes BMW Wireless Charging Bug in Newest iOS Update

The days of worrying that BMW's wireless charging feature can brick your iPhone are finally over.

Apple has released the latest iOS 17.1.1 patch that fixes that can break the Apple Pay and some NFC features on iPhone 15 devices if connected to BMW's in-car wireless chargers.

The big tech company has also updated the iPhone 15's Weather Lock Screen widget's snow icon which occasionally display as just a file icon.

This is the second update for the iPhone 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max since the devices hit the public last Sept. 22. The previous iOS 17.1 update overhauled major issues that bugged the devices during release.

How to Get the Newest iPhone Updates?

Aside from the iPhone 15 series, the newest update is also compatible with all iPhones released in 2018 or later, starting from the iPhone Xs line.

To install the new software, just simply open the Settings app, access General, and then click the Software Update. Choose Download and Install, then voila the new update is already done in a flash.

iPhone Bugs Post-Release

Reports of bugs in the newest line of iPhone devices became viral on X (formerly Twitter) that caused NFC chips to stop working or break BMW's digital car key when connected.

BMW's UK account earlier said that a collaborative investigation with Apple was underway.

 

Earlier last month, users also reported image retention bugs that previous displays in the devices to seemingly leave a ghost mark on the devices even when the displays were switched.

iOS Updates for Other iPhone Models

The Nov. 7 patch follows Apple's series of updates on Tuesday with the watchOS 10.1.1 that fixed fast battery draining issues in the Apple watches, MacRumors reported.

HomePod 17.1.1 also removed a bug with the device's slow Siri response. The update is a short time away from Apple's HomePod 17.1 update that introduced the Enhance Dialogue feature.

The macOS Sonoma and macOS Ventura also received light upgrades for system protection and security updates.
