Dbrand Exposes Casetify on X

In an X post, Dbrand explicitly detailed how Casetify ripped off the designs on its Teardown products. The accessory maker made a side-by-side comparison of the design in question.

The Teardown products are meant to give smartphones, laptops, and gaming systems the appearance of showing the inside of the device once applied, making it look like a transparent cover.

According to Dbrand, "GLASS IS GLASS AND GLASS BREAKS" is an official phrase coined by the Teardown co-creator Zack "JerryRigEverything" Nelson. The new skins and cases are all part of the company's collaboration with the YouTuber.

Other tell-tale signs such as the usage of the same numbers representing the founding date of Dbrand were also used by Casetify. In addition, other references such as the R0807 tag and the scribbled all-seeing eye, are both present on both companies.

Dbrand, Nelson Created Teardown as Accurate as Possible

Upon creating the Teardown products, both Dbrand and Nelson agreed to use extreme lengths to ensure that every skin accurately represents the inside of a device. They also put some Easter eggs as a fan service to their users.

During an internal investigation, the Teardown team spent several hours cleaning up the scanned copy of the product. Dbrand and Nelson concluded that Casetify's Inside Out product line is just a modified design from the Teardown line.

The suit was already filed in the Toronto court with Casetify facing an issue of infringing copyrighted works with 45 Inside Out products. A few hours after the issue burst on X, Casetify pulled out all the Inside Out products from its website.
