Cybertruck Windows Claimed to Be Bulletproof Despite Failed Demonstration

We're less than a week away from the release of Tesla's Cybertrucks, and Elon Musk is already hyping the vehicle up even more, claiming that it will be bulletproof. However, there are some who doubt this claim since the previous demonstration of the glass's strength was a failure.

Cybertrucks Will Be Bulletproof

The release of Tesla's trucks has already been delayed several times before, but it is finally arriving before the year ends. In addition to customers finally getting the prismatic vehicle, Elon Musk claims that it goes beyond being just shatterproof.

Being shatterproof means that when someone hits your windows with a baseball bat, it won't do a thing. Now that Elon Musk claims that the glass is bulletproof, it can withstand something much stronger, but that is yet to be proven.

In case you don't know, the tech billionaire actually performed a demonstration to show just how sturdy the glass is back in 2019. He did so by throwing a metal ball at the side window of the Cybertruck, and humiliatingly, it did not work.

The glass was cracked, and Elon Musk explained that an earlier collision on the door already weakened the glass in the first place, which is why the metal ball easily cracked it, as reported by Interesting Engineering.

It is important to note that the bulletproof glass is not a feature for all Cybertrucks that are set to be released. Customers have the option to get a model that has bulletproof windows. The option is called "beast mode," in case you plan on getting one for yourself.

Regarding just how bulletproof the bulletproof glass is, that really depends on how it is built. It's likely also a proprietary invention just like Tesla's Armor Glass. It's unclear whether it's certified for ballistic protection.

Like tanks, getting the "beast mode" variant means that you can't roll down the windows. That's because they will be built thick enough so that no bullet can push through. Mostly, it can withstand the shots from a nine-millimeter gun.

It's Already On Display

Since the trucks are already a week away from delivering the Cybertrucks, Tesla has already placed the vehicles on display. One can already be seen outside the Lincoln Center in New York City, while another can be seen in San Diego in its Westfield UTC Mall store.

If you want to see more of the Cybertruck, Tesla plans to host a special event Tesla's Cybertruck Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. It will be held on Thursday, November 30, according to Digital Trends, so mark it down on your calendar.

We might get to see another demonstration to see just how sturdy the Cybertruck actually is. Hopefully, it goes better than the last time. It might also be when Tesla will finally reveal the price for the electric truck.

The initial price that was revealed was $39,000, $49,000, and $69,000, depending on the model. However, the electric vehicle company removed the prices on the website, which means that there will be a shift in pricing.
