Flappy Bird (2013) 

Probably the simplest yet most popular game of 2014 is the Flappy Bird. Originally developed by a Vietnamese indie game developer, Dong Nguyen, the game quickly rose to the charts due to its challenging nature. 

The game only requires two things from players, to tap the screen and make sure that the bird passes between a series of pipes. However, the game has been removed from the app stores as the developer cited the addictive nature and negative impact on players' lives. Regardless, it still made a significant impact on mobile gamers.
