‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Trailer: What to Expect This Summer

Fans of the show have been eager to see the second season of the "Game of Thrones" prequel, so when the trailer for the second season dropped, the excitement for it just grew. It showed a lot of short scenes that teased what we can expect this summer.

In the span of a minute and 25 seconds, we saw a glimpse of the war that would ensue after Aegon II ascended the throne, even though Princess Rhaenyra was the one who was named King Viserys's heir. Her rage was fueled even more upon learning that Aemond had killed her son.

Looking at the trailer, we can already see the kind of bloodshed that season 2 will bring. The opening scene was enough to make fans root for Team Black. Rhaenyra looks over at Storm's End, where an uncontrollable Vhagar killed her son Lucerys.

His death signified the end of peace, as Rhaenyra no longer wanted to prevent a war that would kill thousands and would instead avenge his son's untimely demise. Team Green, which is Alicent Hightower's side, has already called for reinforcements, as shown by the soldiers marching.

We can also see shields from other houses as they line up for war, meaning that they have already taken sides and will join the fight between the two sides. Of course, Ser Criston Cole makes an appearance with a new haircut but has the same bitter attitude.

He appears to be executing someone who supports Rhaenyra's claim to the throne. By the looks of it, he remains angry after the Princess chooses to fulfill her duties as heir to the throne instead of running away with him.

Aemond could prove to be an even bigger wild card in the next season, especially since he has already expressed his interest in ruling the Seven Kingdoms as well. The trailer just gets better from there. Jacaerys heads North to meet with Cregan Stark, the head of one of our favorite Houses.

Team Black

Jacaerys' visit could mean that the Starks will honor Rhaenyra's claim to the throne. You'll also see Helaena with a knife to the neck. The man holding the blade would be the assassin that Daemon hired in retaliation after Lucerys was killed.

After all that, the most exciting thing would probably be the new dragon riders on Team Black. We see Seasmoke facing Syrax (Rhaenyra's dragon). Someone will claim Laenor Velaryon's dragon (Seasmoke), which appears to be his rumored bastard, Addam of Hull.

He won't be the only member that will fight from the skies as Baela screams at the top of her lungs as she rides her dragon, Moondancer. She will follow in her mother's footsteps, Laena, who was the former rider of the behemoth Vhagar.

Release Date

The release date is already set for the summer of 2024. The first episode is already rumored to be titled "A Son for a Son," which already tells you that the second season will start off with revenge. If the events from the source material are followed, we could actually see this happen.
