Video streaming giant Netflix has rolled out a secret upgrade for Premium users to much more enjoy watching their favorite shows and movies in 4K resolution.

Netflix secretly improved broadband bandwidth reception of the platform to stream videos at the best quality seamlessly, The Sun reported on Sunday.

The upgrade is reported to benefit over a million subscribers.

Many users have complained before that streaming Netflix at high quality usually results in lots of buffering. Mobile users experience the brunt of these issues.

To remedy the longstanding problem, Netflix converted all its video formats to Dynamically Optimized (DO) HDR to transfer the massive video files to the screen much easier.

Company testing showed 40% fewer rebuffers with the new video formatting, measured by how often the playback is interrupted while data is being downloaded from the server.

The optimization also provides a better experience to users who primarily use their tablets and phones to stream.

The upgrade has proven to lower internet and mobile data usage, giving way for videos to play smoothly and without interruption.

How to Watch Netflix Series and Movies in 4K Resolution?

Premium users can enjoy HD, 4K Ultra HD, and HDR quality on their televisions that have resolution support in the details.

Users can check this in the details page with the movie/show title's descriptions. HD videos can support high-definition 720p to 1080p resolution, while 4K can stream at Ultra HD or 4K Ultra HD.

Some titles also support Dolby Vision for dynamic contrast and color on the screen.

Premium subscribers can turn all these features on the "Playback Settings" in their profile and set the data usage at the highest quality.

The Netflix Premium subscription is available for $22.99 per month. The offer comes with the chance to stream at 4 devices simultaneously, support 6 devices, and add 2 members from far away all in one account.

The Premium service is also the only one packed with the Netflix spatial audio feature that "enhances sound without the need for surround sound speakers or home theater equipment."
