Skybound owns popular titles like "The Walking Dead" and "Invincible," both of which have received series adaptations to many fans' delights.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said in a press release that the partnership will contribute to the "horror know-how" of the studio.

The deal is expected to provide "further steps" to the Bloober Team's goal for 2027.

There is not much information yet on the project, codenamed R, including which property the game will be based on.

Babierno and his team plan to "premiere" the game as early as 2025.

Advantages in Adapting Skybound Titles into Games

With the success of many of its properties, Bloober Team was not the first to forward a deal with Skybound Entertainment to adapt one of its properties into a game.

Skybound Games, a subsidiary of Skybound Entertainment, has worked with narrative video game developer Telltale Games to work with The Walking Dead game series.

Atom Eve, Omni-Man, and titular hero Invincible have also collaborated with Fortnite as in-game skins. Omni-Man was also featured as a playable character in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of its DLC.

Many fans see the partnership as Bloober Team dive into more action-thriller horror games as seen in games like Outlast and the original Silent Hills series.

Bloober Team Moves Away from Psychological Horror Games

The Layers of Fear developer announced earlier this year that it is finally moving on from psychological horror that brought the studio to the limelight to appeal to the "mass market."

Babieno told Engadget that the team will start putting "lot of attention" to gameplay mechanics, starting with its remake of Silent Hill 2.

Bloober Team promises to introduce a brand new story to the classic game, making it more appealing to modern fans of the series.

There is no release date yet for the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
