Samsung officially unveils Galaxy Note 3 Neo

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, a less expensive alternative to the company's flagship Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

We knew it was on the way and Samsung has now finally made the Galaxy Note 3 Neo official. The handset is part of the Galaxy Note 3 family and has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display like the Note 3, and it also shares the same S Pen functionality included with its larger sibling. Some of those popular S Pen features include Air Command, Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window, S Note, Multi Window, new Easy Clip, and Direct Pen Input.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo was designed to bring the Galaxy Note 3 experience to even more users by offering a phablet that is priced lower than the high-end Galaxy Note 3 flagship. Samsung hasn't announced official pricing, but some European retailers have set the price at euro 579.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo also picks up some of the Galaxy Note 3's style and it features a similar faux-leather back plate that makes the smartphone feel better in the hand compared to Samsung's usual plastic design. Samsung will offer the phablet in choice of white, black, or green

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo features a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch (ppi). It will ship with 2GB of RAM and will be powered by a Samsung Exynos Hexa-Core processor. The new processor uses two 1.7GHz cores and four 1.3GHz cores and allows all 6 cores to be activated at the same time, resulting in high speed processing with power-saving capabilities. It has 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards.

Samsung will reportedly use an 8-megapixel rear camera that will support 1080p Full HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing Full HD camera for video chat and selfies. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), NFC, GPS, and an IR blaster to control televisions. The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Samsung's TouchWiz UI, and it will also use a large 3,100 mAh removable battery.

Samsung hasn't announced what regions will be getting the Galaxy Note 3 Neo , but we'll make sure to keep you up to date date as soon as more information becomes available. The smartphone is expected to go on sale in February.
