The time has come.
The 1.6 update for Honkai: Star Rail is finally available, featuring new characters and permanent game modes players can enjoy.
First phase of the 1.6 update, which drops on Dec. 27, will introduce players to a new permanent game mode with "Pure Fiction," an enemy wave-type challenge players can get more Stellar Jades for their rolls.
The Simulated Universe game mode will also receive a new DLC with the "Gold and Gears" update, adding more gameplay strategies and challenges for endgame players to try.
Of course, there is the new permanent event "Panta Rhei" which will come with a new map area for the Herta Space Station with new characters accompanying players through the event.

Where to Find Star Rail's New Event, Game Mode
The "Pure Fiction" game is available via the "Forgotten Hall" for players Trailblaze level 21 and above, while the "Gold and Gears" is eligible for players who completed the Simulated Universe World 5.
Completing "Pure Fiction" will reward players with one copy of the four-star character Lynx.
Update 1.6, "Crown of the Mundane and Divine," is available after the five-hour maintenance that started at 6:00 A.M. (UTC +8). Players will immediately receive 300 Stellar Jades after the maintenance.
Star Rail 1.6 Update: Which Banners to Roll For
The game modes are not the only exciting news that comes with the 1.6 update.
Five-star unit Ruan Mei's banner will also dropped with the first phase of the update. Many players have been anticipating the Genius Society member after encountering her in the Simulated Universe.
Ruan Mei also comes with the rerun banner of Blade, one of the recent fan-favorite characters for his appearance on the "Xianzhou Loufou" arc.
Both characters are expected to boost the fighting powers of players both old and new to combat more difficult challenges coming in the 2.0 update.
In addition, all players that completed the Trailblaze Mission 'The Blue - A Moment of Peace' and unlocked the Mailbox Function will receive one free copy of five-star unit Dr. Ratio.
Dr. Ratio himself will have his character banner along with the first rerun for the five-star unit Kafka starting Jan. 17 next year. Their banners will drop after Ruan Mei's expire.
Both new characters will receive their own Light Cones that players can also roll for to acquire
