Red Nexus 5 appears in new leaked press image

The Nexus 5 is expected to appear in more colors and an official press shot of the red Nexus 5 has leaked online before its rumored Feb. 4 arrival.

There were recent reports that Google was planning on bringing some multi-color love to its Nexus 5 smartphone in the near future. It appears that Google may be looking to stretch out the launch and release one color at a time instead of launching all six colors at once. We just reported that the red Nexus 5 is expected to make its Google Play debut on Feb. 4 and things look like they're going according to schedule, thanks to a reliable tipster.

Evleaks has posted the first official press image of the red Nexus 5. The tipster tweeted the image a few days ahead of the smartphone's rumored Feb. 4 launch. The red variant is expected to be offered alongside the standard white or black Nexus 5 and will be available in the same 16GB or 32GB storage configurations.

As a reminder, the Nexus 5 features a 4.95-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display with a pixel density of 445 pixels-per-inch (ppi) and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone is powered by a top-notch 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 2GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user experience. It ships with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, but no expansion slot for additional memory.

Its camera capabilities include an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and improved HDR+ mode, and a front facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video chat and selfies. Both cameras also have the ability to record 1080p full HD video @ 30FPS. The handset's wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth 4.0 LE abilities, NFC, and GPS. Google has included a 2,300 mAh non-removable battery, which it claims will provide up to 13 hours of talk time. The Nexus 5 also includes support for wireless charging out of the box, although you'll have to supply a wireless charging pad to enjoy this functionality. The smartphone is 69.17mm wide, 137.84mm tall, and 8.59mm thick and weighs in at 130g.

The red Nexus 5 is expected to hit Google Play on Feb. 4 and will be priced at $349 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB.
