Community Notes Ranking: Elon Musk Fans Receive the Most Fact-Checks on X

The Community Notes 2023 leaderboard is out and many of the top listers are notorious Elon Musk fans.

Placing at second place is the self-portrayed Brazilian news site @iluminatibot with 235 Community Notes.

The account, which boasts 1.5 million followers, has often been seen praising the billionaire and X (formerly Twitter) owner in the comment section.

Another top contender is Malaysian journalist Ian Miles Cheong who is a constant presence in Musk's posts, agreeing with his sentiments whether it be politics, society, gender, or even games.

According to the leaderboard, Cheong received 176 Community Notes, mostly for his claims about the US politics.

Majority of the accounts listed follow Musk and are subscribed to X's Blue checkmark plan.

Why Elon Musk Fans Often Receive Community Notes?

Elon Musk followers are the most common users to receive Community Notes due to their claims online, usually

Musk himself placed within the top 30 most fact-checked users on the platform with 60 Community Notes on the platform.

A recent case was with the billionaire sharing an antisemitic post, claiming it as the truth. Yes, it is the same post that prompted many major brands to leave the platform.

The post immediately received a Community Note with other accounts that agreed to experience the same thing.

These accounts receive extra attention from users thanks to their blue checkmark that boosts their posts to ensure platform visibility.

There are even dedicated accounts showcasing the wildest Community Notes published, many of which feature Musk and his followers.

It does not help that Community Notes is a public fact-check initiative in which anyone can apply.

Many of its members are disgruntled users because of Musk replaced the familiar Twitter app with X.
