Verizon releases Android 4.4 KitKat update for HTC One

Verizon has announced that the very latest Android 4.4 KitKat is now available as an OTA update for the HTC One.

HTC has been promising that the U.S. HTC One would be getting an update to Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future on all carriers. For Verizon HTC One customers, the time has come and you can now download the software via an OTA update. The update brings the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the HTC One and also includes HTC Sense 5.5. Let's take a look at what you can expect from the update.

BlinkFeed has been updated and now has a new menu that delivers quicker access to content sources and search access. Users can now easily turn BlinkFeed on or off.

Location Settings has been redesigned to make it easier to use and to also help conserve battery life. You can now get an estimate of battery use per app. A master switch will allow you to turn on or off all location services. It also now lists which apps are currently using location services.

The Gallery application has been redesigned for easier viewing of different content configurations. Panels have now replaced drop-down menus, allowing you to swipe left or right to switch between panels. You'll be able to quickly access photos stored in the cloud or on social networks. Users can now also manage and edit video highlights more easily and use different themes and accompanying music.

Do Not Disturb works as the name implies and allows you to cut down on phone distractions, messages, sound, vibrations, and LED notifications during preset times.

The Music application has been redesigned for easier viewing of content. Panels have replaced drop-down menus and you can now swipe through artists, albums, etc.

The lock screen has been updated and you can now add lock screen widgets by swiping to the left of the lock screen and tapping the + icon to add a new widget to the lock screen.

Verizon has added Verizon Support and Protect for security and the update also includes power management enhancements to provide longer battery life. You can check out the full change log here. Did you get your update yet?
