Horizon Forbidden West: 5 Reasons Why It’s Worth Playing

Sony is known for creating games that are worth every penny because of the story, graphics, combat, and overall gameplay experience. While franchises like The Last of Us and God of War are getting so much attention, the Horizon games are arguably underrated. As for the sequel, here's why it's worth playing.

1. The Visuals Are Insane

Leave it to Guerilla Games to impress players by introducing us to such a picturesque world. There is something oddly calming about man-made structures being overtaken by nature, and that's exactly what you'll get in Forbidden West

Between settlements to wild lands, along with the people and their armor, every little detail contributes to just how amazing the game looks. Let's not forget the remarkable machines that were based on real animals, along with the incredible detail in components and wirings.

2. Good Combat System

Aloy, the main character in the game, can fight in the style you prefer, whether it's long-range, melee, or stealth. There's even a skill tree filled with capabilities you can unlock to make your fighting style more effective.

There are a variety of enemies in the game as well. Some don simple clothing while others are clad in armor with force-field shields. Each animal-based machines have its own weaknesses and attack patterns to keep you on the edge of your seat.

3. Deep and Interesting Lore

If you haven't played Horizon Zero Dawn, I suggest that you do first to appreciate the sequel's story better, especially since it builds on the first game. It revolves around an interesting premise where the world ended and humanity survived.

With barely any records of the past, humans have reverted to primitive ways. However, with all the technology just lying around, they still manage to learn about the people from a time when the world has not ended, calling them "Old Ones."

4. A Perfect Mix Between Primitive and Futuristic

Horizon Forbidden West is a dystopian game, considering that the first civilization died out because of abusing the planet. With the technology they left behind, people who went back to square one were provided with metals and electronics.

With this, people use metals they find in animal machines to craft armor and weapons. Certain tribes even see the machines as gods, based on the purpose they were programmed with like making sure farmlands are bountiful, or that the skies are story when needed.

5. It Can Be a Brain Teaser

Some missions require you to look around and think in order to progress and get to where you need to go, which is what makes this game more complex than it already is. There's a certain level of satisfaction once you figure out what you're supposed to do.

There is a lot of loot around as well, some of which you cannot access if you don't find the right path to it. Other than testing your hand-to-eye coordination, you'll also put your problem-solving and investigative skills to the test.
