LG to launch LG G2 Mini later this month at Mobile World Congress

LG is having a busy February so far; the company just announced its LG G Pro 2 and it seems it will launch its rumored LG G2 Mini later this month at MWC.

Samsung started the trend of spinning off its flagship smartphones into "mini" versions to sell more devices and give consumers a handset that is smaller and easier to hold. The company launched the Galaxy S4 Mini in the summer and soon HTC released the HTC One Mini, and now LG is getting ready to miniaturize its flagship LG G2 with the upcoming G2 Mini.

LG posted an image to its Facebook page with a collage of different objects in a large and a small size next to them, and then we get to see the LG G2 Mini from its rear next to the G2. The company also posted that it would hold an event at Mobile World Congress 2014 on Feb. 24 to " Experience the MINI." LG is expected to follow Sony's lead with its G2 Mini by giving its smaller smartphone the same powerful internals, high-end cameras and more specs of the flagship.

According to the latest reports, the LG G2 Mini is expected to feature a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. It will come with Android 4.4 KitKat and include LG software enhancements such as the very popular KnockOn feature, which allows you to unlock the device by tapping on its screen. The image also confirms its will use LG's Rear Key concept design of placing the power and volume buttons on the rear, because that's where people's fingers lie naturally when holding the device. Moreover, it also allows LG to make its smartphones thinner than some rivals.

There haven't been too many leaks regarding the LG G2 Mini's official specs, so we'll have to be a little patient. We'll know soon enough what the real deal is when LG holds its event at Mobile World Congress later this month. We'll be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
