Nokia and Verizon have officially announced the long-expected Nokia Lumia Icon, introducing a high-end Lumia Windows Phone with a 5-inch 1080p display and a 20-megapixel PureView camera.

Ever since the Lumia 1520 made its appearance on AT&T, Verizon customers have been patiently waiting for the carrier to offer a high-end Nokia Lumia that brings the very impressive 1080p Full HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processing, 2GB of RAM, and the high-end Pureview camera Nokia is famous for to Verizon's network as well. These are the kind of specs that flagship Android smartphones have been able to brag about for quite some time, and thanks to a recent update to Windows Phone by Microsoft, Lumia smartphones can now also enjoy these new features.

Verizon customers will soon be able to get their hands on the just-announced Nokia Lumia Icon. The smartphone features a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 ClearBlack AMOLED Gorilla Glass 3 display with Super sensitive touch that allows users to operate it even while wearing gloves, and a very impressive pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi) will render quality visuals. The handset is powered by a snappy 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user interface. The handset ships with 32GB of internal storage and 7GB of free cloud storage.

The Lumia Icon has a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera with advanced imaging functions to get the best pictures possible, optical image stabilization (OIS), Dual LED Flash, ZEISS optics, 6-lens optics, high resolution zoom 2X and Nokia's professional Camera application. It also has a 1.2-megapixel HD camera for video chat and selfies. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/a/c, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The Icon ships with a 2,420 mAh battery that will provide up to 16.4 hours of talk time and 18 days of standby time. The smartphone also comes with support for wireless charging out of the box, but you'll need to supply your own charger.

The Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon will be exclusively available on Big Red's network starting on Feb. 20 for $199.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. The Microsoft Store has already started taking pre-orders for $25 down.
