Ultra thin Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 specs and image leak

Sony is set to unveil its Xperia Tablet Z successor and an image of the Xperia Tablet Z2 and its reported specs have now leaked before the official unveiling.

When it comes to luxury tablets, Apple and Sony can easily take credit for their current tablet offerings. Apple released its latest flagship models with the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. The tablets have been praised for their displays and exceptional design and build quality. Sony is also in the race with its Xperia Tablet Z, the tablet has proved to be very popular due to its ultra thin design high-end materials construction, with the added benefit of being waterproof. Sony is set to announced the Xperia Tablet's Z successor, which is even thinner and more powerful.

The always-reliable evleaks took to Twitter and posted the specs of the upcoming Sony Xperia Tablet Z2. The tipster claims Sony's new flagship tablet will feature a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 TRILUMINOS display. The display has been developed by Sony to allow a wider range of color boost compared to LCD panels found on other tablets. The device will be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM to provide users with a fast and fluid user interface.

The Xperia Tablet Z2 will also include 16GB of internal storage and users will be able to further expand that thanks to Sony including a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 64GB microSD cards. The tipster says the tablet will pack an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats and selfies. It will retain the original tablet's waterproof feature and will be thinner than its predecessor by coming in at a very impressive 6.4mm. Android fans will also be happy to know that Sony will reportedly launch the Xperia Tablet Z2 with Android KitKat.

Evleaks also followed up on his Xperia Tablet Z2 news by later posting an image of the tablet on Twitter.

There's no official word on when we might see Sony unveil the Xperia Tablet Z2, but the company may show off its latest tablet offering later this month at MWC 2014 in Barcelona. We'll be sure to keep you updated on Sony's upcoming tablet as soon as more details come to light.
