The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now being urged to probe into protesters, including those online, for calling a ceasefire in Gaza over the supposed link to Russia.

Speaking during CNN's "State of the Union" program, former House speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed the protests might be "connected" to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Pelosi claimed the protests could affect the voters' decision in the upcoming 2024 Elections and that FBI should investigate the financing of these campaigns.

Pelosi asserted that only some are linked to Russia with the other protesters "are spontaneous and organic and sincere." Pelosi did not name which campaigns she was pertaining to.

The former House speaker did not provide any evidence to her assertions, but a representative of her office said the Democrat is "aware of how foreign adversaries meddle in American politics."

Protesters Blast Pelosi Over Russian-Linked Claims

Following Pelosi's statements, several protest groups immediately criticized the former House speaker for her suggestion

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim-led group in the US, dismissed Pelosi's claims as "downright authoritarian" to censor protests for the affected citizens in Gaza.

The council claims urged Pelosi to cease the "unsubstantiated smear" and instead "respect the will of the American people" in pushing to stop the "genocidal war" on Gaza.

Pelosi's call came as pro-Palestine protests continued to surge during President Joe Biden's, a Democrat, speeches.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators have also disrupted Pelosi's speech during her visit to Seattle last week.

Recent surveys have shown that many voters "broadly disapprove" of Biden administration's handling of the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

The US is among the countries, along with Israel, that rejected calls for a ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza.

Online Protests Continue on Social Media

Despite the threat of an FBI investigation, pro-Palestine protests continue across social media as many users urge for peace talks.

Many of the posts regarding US policies have also started shifting towards its actions on Gaza as the 2024 Presidential Elections inch closer.

At the same time, disinformation has also become more rampant as the death toll ramps up. Multiple accounts have since been suspended for spreading false information about the war.
