Apple Welcomes Artificial Intelligence in Ecosystem

During the earnings call, Cook disclosed that the company is actively investing in various technologies that will shape its future. "That includes AI, where we continue to spend a tremendous amount of time and effort and we're excited to share details of our ongoing work in that space later this year," the CEO shared.

Previously, there have been reports that Apple is lagging behind its tech giant competitors that already had a headstart on integrating AI. This includes Microsoft and Google, which have both released and upgraded its AI-powered tools.

Apple is expected to use AI to either replace or improve its voice assistant Siri. The voice assistant has been undergoing various changes over the years and generative AI could potentially upgrade the feature even more.

Apple's Upcoming iOS 18 Could Feature More AI

Aside from launching an overhauled AI assistant, it is expected that the company will integrate AI tools on iOS. This could potentially include smart replies in Messages, playlist recommendations in Apple Music, and more.

There are also rumors that iOS 18 will receive the biggest updates ever and will rely heavily on the latest AI trends. The iOS 17.4 code had some hints proving that the company is testing its own large language model under the codename "Ajax."

There is a huge possibility that Apple is already preparing to launch its AI features in the upcoming WWDC in June. The iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS are also up for their next major upgrades.
