Pokémon Black & White Remake: Is No One Really Hyped for It?

Pokémon's official X (formerly Twitter) account has finally hinted at a Switch remake of the beloved Pokémon Black & White coming soon.

The account specifically showed Nintendo DS clips of Legendary Dragon-type Pokémons Zekrom and Reshiram, the pivotal characters of the installation when it was released in 2010.

However, unlike previous announcements, many longtime fans of the series received the news less enthusiastically.

Here are some the probable reasons why:

Not Much Changes from Base Game

The past remakes GameFreak, Pokémon's main developer, has underwhelmed many players due to how it poorly translated from the original console to Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl received the brunt of criticisms for being "low effort" and "uninspired" with minimal changes outside of its graphics.

It did not help that the remakes still received the full $60 price usually reserved for AAA games like the recent Legend of Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles installations.

Rise of Palworld

Despite controversies on its initial release, the "Pokémon with guns" game has caught many Pokémon fans that some of them hopped into the trend.

Palworld offers similar basic concepts as the original Pokémon but mixes it with survivable aspects from Ark and Rust to become a fun but hyperactive game that players can spend a lot of time into.

Many of the newer Pokémon games, aside from completing the Pokédex, can be finished within half a day.

Some even compared how Palworld provides better graphics and gameplay than the recent Pokémon games at a much lower price.

So far, many fans of the series are seemingly reluctant to return to Nintendo's games for fear of another disappointing release.

Waiting for Switch 2

It is no secret that more people are excited about the release of Nintendo Switch 2 than a remake of a decade-old game.

With the console likely to be available at a higher price than its predecessor, many fans are saving their money to afford one.

It does not help that more games are now being catered at $70, a price that may also apply for the Black & White remake.
