Mortal Kombat, Ubisoft Devs Will Work on CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

It's been a while since the sequel to the futuristic dystopian game has been confirmed, but CD Projekt Red has revealed very little about the game. With the latest news, fans might be happy to know that the studio has added veteran devs to the team.

Veteran Devs Working on the Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

Fans of the franchise are expecting great things from the second game, especially since Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be a great open-world title after CD Projekt Red released all the updates and patches to fix the bugs that ruined it on release.

With the latest additions to the team, players might feel more assured about the state of the game once it launches, since the recruited developers have already been in the gaming industry for years and would bring their experiences to the table.

The developers in question include Alan Vilani, who was a former Vice President of Technology for several Mortal Kombat titles, Ryan Bernard who was a former Game Director at Ubisoft, and Dan Hanberg, who was the former Lead Project Manager at Blizzard Entertainment.

In addition to the listed names, Anna Megill, who was the former writer of titles like Control and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is also joining the team, along with the novelist who contributed to Star Wars: The Old Republic, Alexander Freed, as reported by Game Rant.

Other than that, there have only ever been rumors and promises surrounding the sequel. For instance, CDPR devs said that they intend to expand on the life path feature for Cyberpunk 2, which might mean that there will be a bigger difference between Corpo, Streetkid, and Nomad.

The second game might also include a crafting system that's more complex. If you've played the game, then you know that crafting is already possible, but all you need are a couple of components you can loot and purchase, and sometimes the lower-tier version of the item.

There will also be more open-world events. Cyberpunk 2077 already has a lot of random encounters that you can find throughout the game, but since CDPR claims that the first game is just a "warm-up," then we might find more events by exploring in-game.

Why a Flawless Release is Necessary

When Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020, players from all around the world shared the same disappointment. The game was so buggy that some players were not able to progress with the main story, or that the game constantly crashed.

The glitches were so bad that stores had to take the game off the shelves until the studio fixed the issues. The game is already fixed, of course, and it has come a long way from the unplayable mess that it was, but some players remain skeptical of it.

This idea might just be reaffirmed if CDPR released a faulty Cyberpunk 2. However, with the new team of experienced devs and CDRP learning from its mistakes, we can be optimistic that the sequel will be as good as the studio promised.
