‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘Aegon’s Conquest’ Just Found Its Writer

"Game of Thrones" was a massively successful franchise, so it was no surprise when they announced that it was getting a prequel, "House of the Dragon," but even that was so successful that HBO decided to work on a prequel for that as well.

'Aegon's Conquest'

During the first few seasons of "Game of Thrones," a lot of fans could not wait to finally see dragons by Daenerys Targaryen's side, and so when the prequel was announced and released, fans were thrilled to watch a show that focuses on the dragon-riding house.

It seems that HBO recognizes how much fans enjoyed the massive winged creatures aiding rulers in their fight for the throne, as it will now take us further back to the past when it all began when Aegon Targaryen first landed in what is now called King's Landing.

The show, which will take place 100 years before "House of the Dragon," has gotten itself a new writer. Reports say that Mattson Tomlin will be working on the second prequel to the base TV show, as reported by Gizmodo.

Tomlin already has experience in the industry that he can bring to the show, as he worked on titles like the upcoming "The Batman Part II" as a co-writer, the adaptation of KRZRKR which features Keanu Reeves, and Mega Man.

It would be interesting for fans to see how the Targaryens earned their power and titles, especially for those who haven't read the books. We'll get to see powers that gave us the descendants we all came to love like Daemon, Rhaenyra, Daenerys, and Jon.

What Will It Be About?

It's still unclear how far back the writers will go for the story, but they may provide a short narrative as to how the Targaryens established their dynasty even before Aegon began his conquest, especially since there are a lot of important details that can't be missed.

For instance, the only reason that Targaryens exist in the first place is that they knew when to leave before the cataclysmic event that wiped out all the Valyrians called the "Doom of Valyria," thanks to Daenys Targaryen who saw the disaster coming.

House Targaryen established a stronghold in Dragonstone, as per Game Rant, the same place where Rhaenyra is preparing for her fight to win back the throne from his brother. Just as Daenys dreamed that Valyria was coming to an end, Aegon also saw another disaster coming.

In his dream, which he called "The Song of Ice and Fire," Aegon saw the world ending which will begin with a terrible winter from the North. This prompted a belief that only a Targaryen could unite the people to fight against this danger and urged him to seize the throne.

Before his conquest began, Westeros was divided into seven kingdoms such as the North, the Vale, the Iron Islands, the Westerlands, the Reach, the Stormlands, and Dorne. Aegon managed to unite all these kingdoms into one alongside his sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya on dragonback.
