Super Bowl LVIII has just set a new record for the most number of viewers in a single event with 123.4 million viewers last Sunday night, the first time since the Apollo 11 moon landing.

CBS Sports reported a viewership increase across all platforms by 7% from last year's 115.1 million average viewer count as the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs clashed once again.

The long-awaited match between the two teams also caused an all-time peak viewership for the NFL history for both CBS and Paramount+.

Before Super Bowl LVIII, the biggest telecast/stream of the Super Bowl was last year's game between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs won over the 49ers at 25 - 22 with quarterback Patrick Mahomes named the MVP of the season.

Why Many People Watched the Super Bowl LVIII?

While the Super Bowl is already a wide sensation in the US, bringing hundreds of millions of viewers every year, several other factors can also be noted in its dramatic increase from last year.

Most notable was the revenge match between the Chiefs and the 49ers that was four years in the waiting. The Super Bowl LIV ended with an overwhelming Chiefs victory at 31 - 20.

There is also the fact that more personalities have attended this year's championship, including pop icon Taylor Swift who is currently dating Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce.

More Celebrities Spotted on Super Bowl LVIII

Aside from Swift, other celebrities and personalities such as Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, Ice Spice, Lady Gaga, and more were seen attending the event.

Finally, there was the halftime show that continually generates more viewers each year as more performers are announced to take the stage.

Along with these celebrities are their fans who will tune in to catch a glimpse of their favorite people spread across actual footage of the game.

It is expected that more partnerships and ad deals will come on future Super Bowl games as viewership continues to rise.
