Pokémon Announces 'Legends: Z-A' for 2025: Here's What to Expect

Pokémon has announced the next major installment to the franchise, "Pokémon Legends: Z-A," arriving sometime in 2025.

So far, only limited information about the game is known to the public outside of the trailer launched on Tuesday.

However, the few hints are enough to generate hype for a game that will not be released until next year.

First Pokémon Game on Nintendo Switch 2

There is a great possibility that "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" will be released as the first Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Just earlier this month, Nintendo told investors it is delaying the release of the much-awaited console from fall 2024 to 2025.

If the Switch 2 console drops before summer, there is a high chance that "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" will be included in the first major titles exclusive to the console.

This also means better graphics and physics engine, possibly fixing the problems and bugs seen in "Pokémon Scarlet & Violet."

Mega Evolutions are Back

Based on the trailer, Mega Evolutions are officially back.

First introduced in "Pokémon X & Y" in 2013, the beloved game feature was shadowed by newer evolution paths like the "Gigantamax" and "Terastal" forms.

The evolution has not been seen for over 10 years now. Its return signals new evolution forms for all the Pokémon released since the sixth-generation releases.

Focus on a Single City

Unlike previous installments, it seems the "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" story will revolve in a single city rather than exploring a whole region as it did in previous installments.

This builds from the environment building established in "Scarlet & Violet," where the Naranja Academy served as a central part of the game's story and exploration.

It's likely for "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" to feature a similar design but at a much bigger scale - at least if Game Freak intends to give the game a long runtime.
