The Epic Games Store is giving away a new game in a rare day-one event for Astro Duel 2 on March 7.
Every week, Epic has been releasing free games for its users that rotate every Thursday.

Epic Games to Debut Astro Duel 2 With Rare Event
It is extremely rare for Epic to include a game in the giveaway from its day one of release. Most of the time, the game store features older titles for their free game of the week.
Astro Duel 2 is a 2D side-scrolling platformer game that also features top-down ship battles. The game can be enjoyed using the three-player co-op mode or six-player versus multiplayer mode. Other gameplays are also available to accommodate different gaming styles.
Fans of retro games can grab Astro Duel 2 for free from March 7 until March 14. This special event also marks Epic's plan to release free mystery game promotions in the future.
Epic Games Boosts Active User Count Through Free Games
In 2023, Epic reported a significant increase in its monthly active users. The company experienced a surge in active users from 68 million to 75 million. Currently, the platform recorded 804 million Epic cross-platform accounts.
The company also revealed that the increasing active user count was due to the store's discount and free games program. Epic is still working on building connections through partnerships with developers and publishers.
Last year, Epic Game Store gave away 86 free games which totaled $2,000. The free games were claimed over 589 million times in 2023.
