Oura Expands Reach Through E-Commerce

Oura had its success built on word-of-mouth marketing over the years. The previous strategy helped the customers discover the product in retail locations. By partnering with e-commerce platforms, the company is taking a big step.

"Amazon is a natural step for us," said Oura chief marketing officer Doug Sweeny. "It's an enormous ecosystem and in terms of product reviews and search, it's really important."

Although the existing marketing approach of the company was not affected by this move, Sweeny shared that putting their products on Amazon will help them reach a wide demographic of people who are looking forward to proactiveness and promoting engaging lifestyles.

Aside from its full collection of smart rings and accessories, Oura also offers sizing kits on the platform. This will help the customers find the right fit along with a discounted price similar to the cost of the kit.

Oura Faces Strong Competition From Samsung, Apple

Oura entered the year with a fierce competition with big tech companies. Samsung recently launched its latest wearable called Galaxy Ring.

The Galaxy Ring is equipped with health-tracking features like heart rate records and a sleep monitor. The device was introduced during the Mobile World Congress 2024.

Meanwhile, Apple is also eyeing to add more health features to its Watch series. At the same time, insider reports were stating that the company is conceptualizing a smart ring as well.

Currently, Oura promotes its rings with research-grade sensors that are capable of tracking heart rate, temperatures, sleep cycles, and more. The collected data will then be used to provide insights like stress levels and health status of the wearer.
