Netflix Will Host a Live Fight Between Jake Paul, Mike Tyson

Since we were deprived of the Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg fight, it looks like the next best thing will be seeing a YouTuber-turned-boxer fight one of the most popular professional boxers in history, Mike Tyson, and it will be a live event on Netflix.

Paul vs Tyson

Netflix along with Most Valuable Promotions announced that both will partner up for a huge live sports event, specifically a heavyweight boxing match between the controversial Jake Paul and six-time heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

Dubbed "The Problem Child," Jake "El Gallo" Paul has a record of nine wins, one loss, and six knockouts, will go against the boxing veteran who has 50 wins under his belt, as well as 44 knockouts and just six losses throughout his career.

Set to take place on July 20th in the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the event will be streamed live globally and exclusively on Netflix. It would definitely be interesting to see Jake Paul take on one of the most dangerous boxers out there.

Paul even expressed that it's crazy how he went viral for "knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson's undercard," and that four years later, he will be facing Tyson himself to see if he has what it takes to beat "one of boxing's most notorious fighters and biggest icons."

"Whether you're tuning in on Netflix or showing out in person, whether you're team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you're a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you're not going to want to miss this event," says the former YouTuber.

Tyson said that he was looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the T&T Stadium in Arlington, even pointing out that Paul has grown significantly as a boxer over the years and that it would be fun to see what the will and ambition of a "kid" can do.

Most Valuable Promotions founder Nakisa Bidarian said that the event is a "once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup" and they hope that it will be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history. While it could be interesting to see how it turns out, many people believe the fight is in poor taste.

Reactions to the Fight

There is already skepticism around Jake Paul's entire boxing career, so it's expected that people will have something to say about the high-profile match that's about to happen. Mostly, people are not very happy about it.

Reddit user @cam_huskers said that Jake Paul would fight everyone before he fights an actual boxer in their prime, which has been a generally raised issue in the boxing community as well as general social media chatter.

Also pointing out Tyson's age, @blakamus pointed out that the former YouTuber "seems to like fighting untrained opponents and old men," adding that Tyson is 57 years old, which is more than twice the age of his 27-year-old opponent.

Some have also shared speculations about the fight being a scripted money-grab event, while others just flat-out said that they are not interested in watching a kid in his prime beating on an older opponent.
