Netflix’s ‘3 Body Problem’ Could Have a ‘Red Wedding’ Scene Next Season

Netflix's new sci-fi show "3 Body Problem" was a success, but we are yet to hear about a second season being greenlit by the streaming giant. Even though it hasn't been renewed yet, the showrunners already have something planned to give fans a shocking scene.

'3 Body Problem' Wild Escalation

The show was brought to the screens by the same creators behind "Game of Thrones," David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with Alexander Woo, and was based on a brilliant novel series by the Chinese author Liu Cixin called "Remembrance of Earth's Past."

Given that "3 Body Problem" is run but the same people behind the show that was more than comfortable killing off important characters, we can expect moments that will have us looking through our fingers. That, and the creators said so themselves.

In an interview, the duo teased that there will be a scene in the second season where "things wildly escalate," even comparing it to the gruesome and unexpected "Game of Thrones" scene fans refer to as the Red Wedding.

According to Screen Rant, Benioff and Weiss might be referring to a small unmanned San-Ti ship-class known as a droplet, which even with its size and lack of a pilot, can deliver devastating damage to an enemy, which in this case, is the humans.

It will arrive earlier than the rest of the alien race's fleet and is intercepted by humans. Believed to be a peace offering, the spacecraft will instead destroy the human fleet consisting of a thousand ships, which is a show of what the San-Ti can be capable of.

The show's first season already has chilling scenes that demonstrate how the alien race heading toward Earth could be a formidable opponent. Even though they are 400 years away from arriving, they already display the kind of power they possess.

The San-Ti are not only able to interfere with humans' science and technology, but they can see and hear everything that they are planning at all times through the proton-sized supercomputers called Sophons, making it impossible to devise a strategy that the enemy would not anticipate.

Would It Be As Bad as the Red Wedding?

It would be hard to tell since we are yet to see what the second season will bring, or if the show will be renewed in the first place. However, the bar was set high by the season three episode "The Rains of Castamere" where the betrayal of the Freys took place.

Fans of "Game of Thrones" already got a hint of the brutality that can be expected when a beloved character, Ned Stark, was beheaded in the first season. Just when viewers thought that it couldn't get worse, the Red Wedding happened.

Robb Stark was shot with a crossbow and stabbed by his own vassal, his pregnant wife was stabbed in the belly multiple times, and Catelyn Stark had her throat slit. All that happened in just a couple of minutes, not even enough time for viewers to process what was happening.
