LG G2 Mini to launch soon on Sprint in the U.S.

The LG G2 Mini may be ready to hit the U.S. soon as well, as a launch on Sprint seems imminent.

LG officially unveiled its G2 Mini handset back in February and the smartphone is set to hit retail in various regions worldwide this month. The LG G2 was already slated to launch in several regions including Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and others, and now it seems that it will debut in North America as well, joining Sprint's lineup.

The information comes from well-known tipster @evleaks, who claims that the LG G2 Mini will launch with model number LS885. While leaks are not very powerful on their own, without some evidence to back them up, @evleaks' claim falls in line with a user agent profile (UAPROF) on Sprint's website, mentioning the same model number.

As a reminder, the LG G2 Mini sports a not-so-mini 4.7-inch display, and this model is tipped to come with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which is intriguing considering that in other regions the smartphone has a 960 x 540 pixel resolution. Moreover, in some regions the handset packs a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4i processor clocked at 1.7GHz, but in the U.S. it is expected to feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter.

The LG G2 Mini model that packs an NVIDIA processor, meanwhile, has a higher-end 13-megapixel rear camera, but will not make it to the U.S. Both models of the LG G2 Mini, however, are expected to rock the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box.

No specific information is currently available regarding when exactly the LG G2 Mini will make its debut on Sprint's network, as the carrier has made no official announcement so far. Despite the lack of solid confirmation, however, @evleaks' tip combined with the UAPROF on Sprint's website suggest an imminent launch. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear more details about the handset's upcoming launch and pricing on Sprint's network, so stay tuned.
