TikTok Offers Job Opportunities to Users

Several content creators have started their journey by creating niche videos on their TikTok account during the pandemic. Over the years, some of them attracted millions of views and thousands of followers which helped monetize their videos.

For instance, Nichols, known as "shoelover99", has over 12.5 million followers and 546 million likes on TikTok. She uses the app to monetize her content and create promotional partnerships with brands like Home Chef.

"It gives everybody the opportunity to be able to provide for their family in a way that they have probably never provided for their family before. It has changed people's lives," she shared in an interview with CNBC, ahead of the bill's signing.

An Oxford Economic study revealed that TikTok supports small and medium-sized businesses, representing around 224,000 jobs in 2023. These businesses accumulated nearly $15 billion in profit and contributed to the U.S. gross domestic product.

TikTok Users at Risk of Losing Jobs

Nichols and other TikTok creators are openly speaking against the potential ban. Their team of creators seeks to explain to lawmakers how businesses benefit from the platform's reach.

Currently, there are more than 585,000 posts that talk against the ban on TikTok itself. Most of the videos use the hashtags #KeepTikTok and #SaveTikTok.

Content creators are also expounding on the various impacts of the platform on society from providing online entertainment to educating people. Previously, big personalities from TikToks talked about the threat of miseducation if the platform gets banned.

"There's a huge segment of TikTok where you get your news, so it's about being educated," said Dr. Anthony Youn, who gained more than 8.4 followers on the platform by discussing plastic surgery.
