Live-action 'One Piece' Resumes Production in June

The successful debut of the live-action series "One Piece" resulted in its immediate renewal for a second season. The crew is expected to begin filming in June, following a 2025 target premiere according to some sources.

Season 1 writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner Matt Owens will be returning for his role along with the addition of Tracz to the team. Meanwhile, Steve Maeda, who co-developed the first season as co-showrunner, is coming back as an executive producer.

"I'm a huge fan of Oda-san's incredible imagination and I was blown away by what the live-action team created in Season One. So it's a dream and a joy to come aboard the Going Merry as it enters the Grand Line for an even more giant Season Two," Tracz shared in an interview with Deadline.

'One Piece' Season 2 Expectations

The first season of "One Piece" premiered in August and featured eight episodes. The show barely covered the entire "One Piece" saga but the fans were impressed by its authenticity to stick with the manga.

Season 2 is expected to focus on Luffy and the Straw Hat crew's journey to Alabasta. If the series continues to follow the manga arc, it will be an accurate timeline where the pirates will meet the Baroque Works organization and the evil leader Mr Zero.

Previously, Jamie Lee Curtis is reportedly joining the series as a new character, specifically as Doctor Kureha. Owens commented before that they are currently writing the script with her as the character on their mind.
