Nintendo Extends Super Mario Hype With Movie Sequel, Retro Game Revivals

Earlier this year, Illumination and Nintendo shared that the popular "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is finally getting a sequel movie. The upcoming film is slated to release on April 3, 2026, and is currently in the development stage.

The film quickly became a blockbuster hit on theaters and streaming platforms. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" profited over $1.39 billion at the global box office and was one of Peacock's most streamed films before it was dethroned by "Oppenheimer."

In addition, Nintendo is also busy with the upcoming revival of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD on Switch. The games have sparked interest from retro gamers and are scheduled to be released on May 23 and June 27, respectively.
