Google Sheets Introduces Much-Awaited One-Click Table Update

Google Sheets Allows One-Click Table Option

Google Sheets is a popular alternative to Microsoft Excel as the service offers a cloud-based sync that can be accessed easily through the internet. The spreadsheet program functions similarly to Excel but some features are still missing from Sheets.

Several Sheets users have been asking for a one-click table option to present their data in a different manner. Google demonstrated a look that is quite similar to AI-generated tables. However, users won't have to be familiar with Gemini since it is not integrated with this feature.

Google has also been regularly updating Sheets by adding features that have been already seen in Excel. Last month, the company enhanced the scrolling system for massive Sheets. It is also expected that the company will introduce more AI-powered features in line with its Gemini era.

How Google Sheets Table Conversion Works

To enable the feature, users must select a block of data and click Format to find the "Convert to table" action. Sheets will automatically transform the data into a table.

The system will create the filters for each column and each category will have visual identifiers per row. This prevents users from manually selecting every other row to make color them differently.

A formatted column types, filters, and dropdown menu are also automatically created based on the data. Users can also create a specific combination of filters and adjust the range of data.

As of writing, the feature has yet to be available for everyone. The one-click table conversion is still rolling out gradually but it is expected to be widely functional by June 6.
