Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini support page pops up on company’s official website

The purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has popped up on the company's Finnish website, sporting the same SM-G800F model number that surfaced before.

Samsung was the one who pioneered the whole concept of launching a large flagship smartphone and then release a smaller version as well, in the form of a "Mini," with its Galaxy S3 back in 2012. The company continued with this strategy in 2013 with its Galaxy S4 Mini, and the trend really caught on along the way. Other companies joined the party and launched smaller versions of their flagship smartphones, and the move seems to be gaining momentum still.

Samsung recently launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 powerhouse, and the company is expected to continue its trend and launch several spinoffs. It already unveiled a Galaxy K Zoom version, which is the camera-centric variant of the smartphone, and a Galaxy S5 Mini is also expected to debut shortly.

Rumors about this purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini have been making rounds for quite some time, but nothing has materialized so far. The smaller version of the flagship is expected to debut with watered-down specs compared to the original Galaxy S5, but it should nonetheless be a very capable device.

The SM-G800F model number has popped up a number of times so far, and it is most likely for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. Now that the model number has appeared on the official Samsung Finland website, there's little doubt that it will soon make its debut.

The page (in Finnish) in question doesn't really reveal any exciting details about the handset other than listing the model number. Based on previous rumors, however, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will reportedly sport a not-so-mini 4.7-inch display with a 720p resolution and will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.6GHz and paired with 1.5GHz of RAM.

Other rumored specs of the purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini include 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 2,100 mAh battery.

The handset is expected to run Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top. The Galaxy S5 Mini will also reportedly boast the same IP67 certification as the flagship, making it water-resistant.

With no official word from Samsung's part, however, all of the aforementioned specs remain in the rumor state for now. The Galaxy S5 Mini should make its debut soon, and we'll tell you all about it as soon as Samsung reveals more.
