Over the weekend, the original HTC One (M7) that launched back in 2013 has started receiving the promised update to HTC Sense 6.0.

The update was expected to start rolling out a bit later, but some owners of the HTC One M7 have already reported receiving the latest version of HTC's own user interface (UI).

HTC Sense 6.0 will grace last year's HTC One with similar software features as this year's flagship HTC One M8, though not all features are possible. For instance, some of the camera features the new HTC One M8 has to boast are not available on the HTC One M7 simply because last year's model doesn't have the new dual camera setup. In other words, software can't make it where hardware doesn't allow it.

Other than that, HTC One M7 (2013) users will still be able to enjoy some neat changes the latest HTC Sense 6.0 brings to the table. The new software comes with enhanced Zoe features, a revamped BlinkFeed, as well as the new Motion Launch gestures.

As Slashgear points out, the Sense 6.0 UI on the HTC One M8 replicates what the HTC One M8 Mini, aka the HTC One Mini 2, has to offer. The Mini version of this year's flagship is in many ways the same as the 2013 HTC One, with a few notable differences such as size.

HTC has been pretty open regarding the update schedule for its devices and offers details on various stages of the process. Taking a look at the HTC One Updates page will reveal that the Sprint HTC One Max, the unlocked HTC One (M7), and the Developer Edition of the HTC One (M7) have already received updates to Sense 6.0, with more variants set to follow shortly.

The AT&T HTC One Mini is the only device that's still in the "Integration" phase, while all other models in the HTC One lineup are in the "Certification" stage. This is the last phase before the update is complete and ready to roll out.
