T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 update stopped, carrier stays mum as to why

Last week, T-Mobile has started rolling out an update for its Samsung Galaxy S5, but the carrier has apparently stopped the process for now.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the hottest, highest-end devices currently available on the market, boasting top-notch specs and features that make it worthy of the flagship title. The smartphone has recently made a wider debut and is already shaping up to be quite a popular handset.

This new update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S5 was supposed to bring a fix that would resolve the issue causing intermittent SMS/MMS message failures. It remains unclear at this point just why T-Mobile decided to pull the update soon after it started pushing it.

T-Mobile didn't offer much details in regards to this decision, but did confirm that the update "has been paused." The operator failed to say whether this halt was due to delivery issues with the aforementioned SMS/MMS problem, or whether some other issues occurred as a result of the update.

"The Samsung Galaxy S 5 Software update to G900TUVU1ANE5 via OTA or Kies has been paused. This post will be updated when further details are available," reads T-Mobile's announcement on the Galaxy S5 support page.

T-Mobile had started pushing this update to its version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 last week, on May 22. The carrier was supposed to wrap up this whole update process on June 10, but instead stopped pushing the new software.

This delay will likely push that June 10 end date back even further, but it's hard to determine at this point for how long it will be delayed. T-Mobile did not mention when it would resume the update, but should offer more details shortly.

In conclusion, Samsung Galaxy S5 owners on T-Mobile's network should stop looking for the update for now, as it is no longer available at this point. If not, we'll keep you up to date as soon as T-Mobile offers more details about this update, or as soon as it resumes the rollout process.
