iPhone 6 leaked images show full-metal shell, intriguing design changes

The much-rumored iPhone 6 is the star of a new leak, appearing in a few images that give us a better look at its design.

The iPhone 6 is expected to make its debut this fall and finally boast a larger screen compared to previous iterations. Some previous reports have also indicated the next-generation iPhone would also come with some notable design changes, and the newly-leaked images apparently confirm such claims.

French publication Nowhereelse published four intriguing images (see above), allegedly showing the front, rear, and sides of the iPhone 6's shell. At a first glance, these photos seem to bolster claims that the iPhone 6 will have an ultra-thin profile, as well as some intriguing changes.

The iPhone 6 seems to have a full metal back panel, eliminating the glass strips found on previous models, but still showing separation lines. One image showing the left side of the device reveals holes for elongated volume buttons and a mute switch. The right side, meanwhile, is more intriguing, as it shows what looks like the lock button next to the SIM card slot. All iPhones so far have had their lock button at the top, but this relocation to the upper right corner would allow for easier one-handed use despite a larger display. This falls in line with previous rumors, adding more credibility.

The hole for the camera flash also seems to be different, as it appears circular in these images, not oval-shaped. This could mean that Apple will either enhance or ditch the "True Tone" flash it introduced with its latest iPhone 5S.

Lastly, the Apple logo on the back panel now appears to be cut out, indicating that Apple may either use the space to place more antennas, or to sport a lighted logo. Just a few days ago, VentureBeat reported that the iPhone 6 would boast a better 4G LTE radio, as well as NFC and wireless charging capabilities.

The next-generation iPhone 6 is widely expected to come in two large-screen models - one with a 4.7-inch screen and the other with an even bigger 5.5-inch display. The 4.7-inch model will reportedly arrive first, making its debut this fall, while the iPhablet would launch later this year or early next year. The newly-leaked images allegedly show the shell or the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

As always, take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a grain of salt until an official announcement.
