Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro debuts with QHD display, 16-megapixel camera & more (VIDEO)

Lenovo officially announced its new Vibe Z2 Pro, a "beast of a phone" with a QHD display and high-end specs and features all around.

The 2K display trend seems to be gaining momentum, with more companies joining the QHD party. The new Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is the latest smartphone to get the QHD (2K) treatment, boasting a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

The smartphone comes with a massive display that may not suit everyone's tastes and preferences, but its specs and features will definitely make it a worthy contender in the increasingly-competitive smartphone market. Moreover, this device also boasts impressive multimedia options, further boosting its appeal.

In terms of specifications, the new Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro comes with a massive 6-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, which puts it on par with high-end flagships such as the LG G3 and the Oppo Find 7. Under the hood, Lenovo's new phablet packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a clock speed of up to 2.5GHz. This SoC is surely powerful enough to fuel the big QHD display, but it's still a bit odd that Lenovo didn't go for the Snapdragon 805 instead.

Other specs of the Vibe Z2 Pro include a 16-megapixel rear camera with some neat software features, such as Auto-scene detection, which will automatically select the most suitable mode depending on what you're trying to capture. Ultra Night Mode, meanwhile, aims to deliver the clearest shots even in the lowest light conditions, while the Pro Mode ditches the automatic settings to give you full control of the camera.

While Lenovo has yet to make a name for itself on the U.S. smartphone market, the new Vibe Z2 Pro might be the one to change this. In addition to high-end hardware specifications, the new smartphone also boasts a premium brushed metal finish that makes it look and feel more stylish. On the software side, the device runs Android 4.4 with Lenovo's custom Vibe UI version 2.0 on top.

Lenovo made the announcement on its Google+ account on Tuesday, Aug. 5, but has yet to disclose any availability or pricing details for the device. More information should become available closer to launch, and we'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
