Samsung Galaxy Note 4 confirmed to debut on Sept. 3

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is confirmed to debut at the company's Unpacked event on Sept. 3, ahead of the IFA 2014 trade show.

Sept. 3 was already rumored as the purported unveiling date of the Galaxy Note 4, but now we have official confirmation. The company may not have explicitly said that the Note 4 will be the star of the upcoming event, but a new "Note the Date" teaser on Samsung's press website doesn't really leave any room for interpretation.

As you can see in the image above, Samsung's new teaser from Wednesday, Aug. 6, shows the menu designed for the Galaxy Note's popular S Pen, while announcing the Samsung Unpacked event set for Sept. 3. If that's not enough, the accompanying caption says "Note the Date," clearly hinting at the upcoming Galaxy Note.

The next-generation Samsung Galaxy Note phablet is one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year, and is expected to give fierce competition to Apple's much-rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6. The current Galaxy Note 3 flagship phablet is already an impressive powerhouse, and its successor is expected to boast notable improvements on all fronts.

According to the rumor mill, Samsung will finally venture into 2K territory with its upcoming Galaxy Note 4, as the phablet is expected to boast a 5.7-inch QHD display with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the device is rumored to pack Samsung's latest Exynos ModAP chipset, or a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, depending on region. Both versions are expected to be 4G LTE-enabled.

Other rumored specs include at least 3GB of RAM, if not 4GB of RAM (the current Galaxy Note 3 already comes with 3GB of RAM), 32GB of internal storage, microSD support for additional memory, and a 16-megapixel rear camera. Some reports also claimed that a 128GB model may be in the cards as well, and ultrasound technology has also been rumored for the Note 4's S Pen, but it remains unconfirmed at this point.

In fact, all of the above-mentioned specs and features are still in the rumor state for now, but at least one thing is clear: the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be making its official debut on Sept. 3. The upcoming Samsung event will unveil the next-generation phablet in three cities simultaneously - Berlin, Beijing, and New York.
