Sony has recently launched its new Xperia Z3 Compact and the handset is now up for pre-order with an impressive price in the UK.
The new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact made its debut last week at the IFA 2014 trade show, boasting high-end specs and features in a compact form factor, as the name itself suggests.
Sony has made quite a name for itself due to its compact devices, raising the bar for the industry. While other "mini" handsets out there come with watered-down specifications compared to their flagship counterparts, Sony's compact versions make little compromises.
In fact, when Sony launched its Xperia Z1 Compact, it shook the whole industry and sparked hopes of seeing more high-end "mini" devices hit the market. Other companies continue to offer smaller versions of their flagships with mid-range specs on board, but Sony remains true to its strategy.
The company skipped the Xperia Z2 Compact version, going straight for the Xperia Z3 Compact. The device is now up for pre-order at retailers in the UK, and the price is surprisingly attractive in some cases. As the Xperia Blog points out, the Sony Mobile Store and Amazon UK are both offering the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for £429, but retailers Clove and Handtec have slashed the pre-order price to roughly £348 including VAT.
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch display, paired with a powerful processor, a high-end camera, and other top-notch features, and it's expected to be in great demand once it actually hits commercial availability.
The pre-order price for the Xperia Z3 Compact from Clove Technology and Handtec is even more appealing considering that the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, launched back in January at CES, came with a £310 price tag.
Clove Technology is offering the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for £349.99 in black, white, and orange color options, while Handtec has the handset up for pre-order for £347.99 in white, black, green, and orange. Both prices are for the 16GB model of the smartphone.
It remains unclear why Clove and Handtec offer prices far better than Sony and Amazon UK, and whether it's a limited-time deal or the prices are here to stay. Interested buyers can also find the Xperia Z3 Compact on Sony's website here or on Amazon UK at this link, with the aforementioned £429 price tag.
