NVIDIA Shield Tablet now rocks Android 5.0 Lollipop (VIDEO)

NVIDIA Shield tablet owners and fans are in for some good news, as Android 5.0 Lollipop has now hit the slate.

Moreover, the new upgrade to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is also accompanied by a few other features, enhancements, and applications that aim to improve the overall experience. With the update, the NVIDIA Shield Tablet becomes one of the first devices to rock the very latest version of Google's popular mobile operating system (OS).

As reminder, the NVIDIA Shield tablet packs a powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM, and comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity. The tablet is also available in two models: Wi-Fi, or 4G LTE, and comes with a neat stylus.

"The world's fastest mobile processor. Unbeatable tablet graphics, video, and audio. The most advanced, responsive stylus. And the freedom to pair with the optional SHIELD controller for ultimate gaming control. The SHIELD tablet delivers everything you need to get the most from your games, movies, and apps," NVIDIA touts on the tablet's product page.

"The SHIELD tablet's NVIDIA Tegra K1 mobile processor taps into the same NVIDIA Kepler architecture that drives the world's most extreme gaming PCs. With a custom engineered thermal system, SHIELD tablet harnesses the full power of Tegra K1's extreme performance," adds the company."

In addition to all of the neat treats Android 5.0 Lollipop has to offer, the new update rolling out to the NVIDIA Shield tablet comes with the new Dabbler 2.0 art, SHIELD Hub, and NVIDIA GRID gaming services, ready to take things to the next level.

The NVIDIA GRID gaming service should be of particular interest, as it allows users to play games such as Half-Life 2: Episode 1 directly on their Shield tablet.

"Only NVIDIA SHIELD tablet gives you access to the new NVIDIA GRID gaming service, with more than 20 blockbuster PC games available for free, or stream games from your GeForce GTX-powered PC and play them on the SHIELD tablet with NVIDIA GameStream technology. Plug into your TV, switch to console mode, and play your games on the big screen. You can also seamlessly record your greatest gaming moments or stream your game action to Twitch as you play with NVIDIA ShadowPlay."
