Verizon Droid Turbo gets blue avatar on Best Buy

The much-touted Verizon Droid Turbo smartphone powerhouse is getting a new color option, as Best Buy has a blue model listed as coming soon.

The Motorola Droid Turbo is one of the highest-end smartphones currently available on the market, boasting top-notch specs and features all around. The handset launched recently as an exclusive to Verizon Wireless, and came in two color options: red and black.

The Verizon-bound Droid Turbo now appears in a blue avatar on Best Buy's website. The new model is not available for purchase just yet, but the "coming soon" label indicates that it will go live in the very near future.

The blue version of the Motorola Droid Turbo will come at the same price point as the original models, which means that it will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless, or $699.99 contract-free. This blue model will most likely be available exclusively from Best Buy.

Aside from the new color option, the Motorola Droid Turbo will not sport any other changes. This version will come with the same 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 graphics, and 3GB of RAM.

The handset comes with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage capacity, although the blue Droid Turbo will apparently come only in a 32GB model. Other specs include a 21-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,900 mAh battery. Connectivity options consist of 4G LTE with XLTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and MicroUSB. On the software side, Android 4.4 KitKat runs the show.

While the Droid Turbo is exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the U.S., Motorola has also launched an international version of the smartphone called Moto Maxx. This model comes with the same specs and features as the Droid Turbo and should hit wider availability soon, although it will not reach the U.S. or Europe. So far, the Moto Maxx is aimed at Latin American markets.

This means that Droid Turbo fans in the U.S. are left with Verizon as their only choice, but at least a new color option will soon become available. Best Buy doesn't mention just when exactly the blue Droid Turbo will go on sale, but it shouldn't take long now.
