Purported Samsung Galaxy S6 spotted on import/export tracking site Zauba – Launch imminent?

The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S6 was apparently spotted on import/export tracking website Zauba, suggesting that it might make an imminent debut.

The Samsung Galaxy S6, also referred to as the Samsung Project Zero, is expected to boast great improvements over its predecessor. Samsung has reportedly gone back to the drawing board for its next-generation flagship, which is why it has been dubbed Project Zero. Recent whispers suggested that the company may unveil its new Galaxy S6 as soon as CES 2015, and the handset has now popped up in the Zauba import database in India.

The device appears listed with model number SM-G920F, which is a different model number than the ones previously associated with the purported Galaxy S6. The SM-G920F is expected to come as the European variant of the smartphone.

The Zauba listing means that Samsung sent this SM-G920F handset to India for research and development purposes, which is not a big surprise considering that the company usually sends a large number of devices in development there. The listing in question doesn't reveal anything regarding the device's specifications or launch date, but mentions that it is valued at INR 18.938, i.e. roughly $300. This doesn't mean that Samsung's next-generation flagship will actually cost this little, it will most likely retail for twice as much. Prices listed on Zauba never reflect the real price of the device at launch.

Nevertheless, if this SM-G920F device turns out to be the real deal, the Samsung Galaxy S6 may debut very soon.

When it comes to specifications, recent reports have indicated that it will sport a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, pack a new Samsung Exynos 7420 processor under the hood, and boast Mali-T760 graphics. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 810-powered variant of the handset is also expected.

On the software side, the handset should rock the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Other rumored specs include a 16- or 20-megapixel rear camera and 3GB of RAM. In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy S6 may sport at least a metal frame, if not a premium full-metal body.

Rumors have also hinted at a Galaxy S6 Edge variant with a curved display to launch alongside the flagship Galaxy S6, much like the Galaxy Note 4 debuted alongside a curved-display Galaxy Note Edge.

It all remains in the rumor state for now, however, and it is highly advisable to take all leaks, rumors, and reports with a hefty grain of salt.
