The newly-announced HTC One M9 flagship smartphone will apparently hit retail on March 16, and a variant with 64GB of internal storage capacity will also be available.
HTC officially unveiled its new One M9 back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 early this month, but offered no exact pricing or launch details at the time. The HTC One M9 debuted with 32GB of internal storage capacity and was expected to hit commercial availability later this month.
Taiwan's ePrice now reports (translated) that the HTC One M9 will make its initial debut in HTC's home country of Taiwan, set to go on sale next week. The handset will reportedly launch in Taiwan on March 16, and other markets should follow shortly after.
Moreover, HTC apparently confirmed that it will offer two One M9 variants after all - one with 32GB of internal storage capacity, and the other with 63GB of built-in storage. In Taiwan, the 32GB model will retail for 21,900 TWD (about $693), while the 64GB variant will cost 23,900 (roughly $756).
It remains unclear at this point, however, whether both variants of the HTC One M9 will be available globally, or whether the U.S. will only have access to the 32GB version. Either way, both models come with microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB.
As a reminder, the new-generation HTC One M9 comes with the same sleek design as its predecessor, but packs upgraded specs and features for a superior experience. More specifically, the handset still features a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, but rocks a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor under the hood, 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel rear camera, an UltraPixel front shooter, and a 2,840 mAh battery. On the software side, the handset will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop and HTC Sense 7.0 UI on board out of the box.
HTC has yet to offer exact details regarding the handset's launch in the U.S., but it shouldn't be too long before the new HTC One M9 is ready to hit retail. All four major carriers will offer the handset. We'll keep you in the loop as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
