HTC apparently has some big news to share with the U.S. on Wednesday, March 18, and it's related to the One M9 retail release.

The new-generation HTC One M9 made its official debut back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month, arriving as the company's flagship smartphone for 2015.

The HTC One M9 is expected to be among the hottest devices of this year and it's already shaping up to be in great demand, as it boasts a sleek design and top-notch specs and features all around. HTC offered no specific launch or pricing details back at the MWC, but revealed last week that the One M9 will launch in Taiwan first, on March 16.

When it comes to U.S. availability, the handset is expected to hit retail later this month. HTC has yet to share specific details in this regards, but it now seems that it will offer more information shortly. HTC America President Jason Mackenzie teased that the company has something important to share on Wednesday, March 18.

"Going to be an exciting week. In addition to NCAA tourney, HTC has a BIG announcement for US customers on Wednesday. #HTCOneM9," the executive teased in a post on Twitter.

While Mackenzie doesn't specifically mention what the announcement will be, it will most likely relate to the U.S. launch of the HTC One M9. The company should announce a specific launch date and pricing details, as well as carrier availability. All four major U.S. carriers are expected to offer the HTC One M9 on various options (on contract, with monthly installment plans, or outright without a contract) and should announce their plans shortly. So far, carriers said they would offer the smartphone sometime in "early Spring," but mentioned no specific timeframe or launch date.

The big announcement on Wednesday could include pricing and specific availability details for the HTC One M9 launch on the four major U.S. carriers - AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The company should also offer more information regarding the unlocked and developer edition of the HTC One M9, which should be available through its website.

We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as HTC announces the big news, so stay tuned.
