AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update rolling out now

After updating its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop, AT&T is now extending the same courtesy to the older Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

While it may no longer be the latest phablet in Samsung's popular Galaxy Note lineup, the Galaxy Note 3 is still very popular worldwide and a new software update will now make it even more attractive.

AT&T has now announced that it started to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900A) on Tuesday, March 24. The update comes with build number N900AUCUEOC1 and weighs in at a hefty 1.2GB. Users should install it over Wi-Fi, and make sure their device has plenty of battery life left so there are no interruptions.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a slew of neat changes and improvements to the table, as it comes as a major update over the previous version. Material Design enhancements will make everything more visually appealing, albeit the changes in appearance are less visible on Samsung devices due to the OEM's heavy TouchWiz UI that rests on top of Android. Other features Lollipop will bring include priority mode notifications, neat battery saving optimizations, security enhancements, performance improvements, and much more.

As usual, AT&T is releasing the update in stages, which means that not all Galaxy Note 3 devices will get it at the same time. As previously mentioned, Android 5.0 Lollipop has already started rolling out on March 24, but it may take a few days to reach your device.

If you already received the update notification, follow the onscreen instructions and install Android 5.0 Lollipop on your device. If the notification has yet to arrive, you can always manually check for the update's availability by accessing your device's Settings > General > About device > Software updates > Check for updates.

Because the update is quite hefty, it cannot be downloaded using a mobile data plan, it requires a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
